Every once and again you come across a band that’s so weird you can’t help but listen. They capture you with an allure that cannot be described. You can listen to them for years and still be puzzled. That is what Misty Roses is to me. The new album by duo Jonny Perl and Robert Conroy, is coming out September 1st, I think everyone should try this album out, just for the sake of experiencing it. The band combines weird electronic elements, 60’s pop music, and haunting vocals to create a sound that you may recognize from some long forgotten dream… or nightmare.

The CD opens with “Clouded Sulphur”. I can’t even begin to explain the trip this song takes you on. Rebecca Chamberlain lends her soft vocals to the song; create a counterpart to those of Robert.

The next track, “Dreaming of Delphine,” continues you on your trip of ambient music, soft vocals, and weirdness. This song comes equipped with an acoustic guitar and drums you’d expect a tribe to use.

The title track really mixes things up between the distorted guitar, drums, and numerous other instruments making a collage of sounds that gives you a wave of emotion and at the same time forces you to question your sanity.

Overall the CD is interesting and different. It’s something I have never experienced before and I am still questioning whether or not that is a good thing. Still, the album comes with some really good songs that are certainly memorable. My review may be bias though, I think they are good at what they do, even if I don't fully understand it.
