Alternative rock act Marcy Playground are set to release there newest CD, Leaving Wonderland,,, In A Fit Of Rage on July 7th. The bands left its days of "Sex And Candy" behind to bring us a much heavier, more driving record. The CD opens up with the soft rock song “Blackbird”. Although not the most dynamic song on the disc, the song easily provides evidence of how the band has grown since there start in the late 90’s. “Memphis “ is a country rock tune that shows the great qualities of musicianship the band contains while displaying the great diversity of its singers. The last song on the record , “Down the Drain,” shows that even the oddest sound effects like water drops can be used to create an atmospheric piece of music.
Overall this is a really good comeback for Marcy Playground. It has a unique quality that only seems to be present in Marcy Playground. As good as some of the songs on Wonderland are others do nothing but add length the disc for me. I’m personally still looking forward to the CD of B-Sides that should also be out later this year.
Key Tracks: Memphis, Blackbird, Emperor
