Dianna: Thanks for taking the time
out to talk to me! What was it like to be on The Warped Tour in 2008?
KATC: It was a blast! We had only been a band for a few months
when we found out we were getting to play Warped. It was our first tour
and it was definitely challenging.
Dianna: Are you excited to be on the line up again this year?
KATC: Extremely! We know the ropes of the tour from doing it
once before, so we'll know what we're doing. We're also playing a bigger
stage.
Dianna: Was it exciting to hear one of your songs on The Real
World?
KATC: That was really cool. It's amazing what TV can do for
your fan base. Within an hour of the airing of the show, we had 4,000
plays on our Myspace page. We gained a bunch of new fans from having our
song on the Real World. Our music
will also be played on this coming season of "Keeping Up With The
Kardashians".
Dianna: You recently toured with Forever the Sickest Kids and
White Tie Affair, what other big bands have you toured with?
KATC: We've toured with Just
Surrender, Red Car Wire, The Friday
Night Boys, A Rocket To The Moon, Mercy Mercedes and The Scenic,
to name a few!
Dianna: What is it like to go from a small band, to having
your name all over MTV, and touring on
Warped Tour?
KATC: It's a
pretty surreal experience. I remember sitting in my college dorm
writing songs and thinking of a way I could get them out there and a
year later, my band is on MTV! We've definitely come a long way over the
past year.
Dianna: What can we expect on your next EP?
KATC: Honestly, I can't completely answer that question. We
just started writing our new release. I'm pretty excited to see what
direction we go and how it's going to turn out. We are also, re-releasing our last
EP... It will be entitled "Shut Up and Deal". It will include the songs
from our last EP "Against The Wall" but will include a brand new song and our music video for "Wrapped Around Your Finger". It will be in
stores nationwide on July 28th, 2009.
Dianna: Congratulations on signing to Tragic Hero Records, what brought that on?
KATC: We had discussed offers with a couple of Labels and
really liked what Tragic Hero had to
offer.
Dianna: What was it like making a music video?
KATC: So much fun but it was a really long and intense
experience. It was definitely one of my favorite experiences of being in
a band so far.
Dianna: When should we be expecting the video’s release?
KATC: The
video for "Wrapped Around Your Finger" by director Scott Hansen will be
exclusively available on our EP "Shut Up and Deal" and on iTunes July 28th. We may put it up on Myspace eventually, too!
Dianna: Twitter?
KATC:

Dianna: Is it tough touring all the time?
KATC: Ask us that in a few years. It's so fun and exciting
right now but after a few years of doing it, it may be tougher! We've
been fortunate enough to be a part of some really amazing tours. Our
last tour with Forever The Sickest Kids was
an absolute blast.
Dianna: What is your writing process?
KATC: We
usually just come up with a guitar part and I write most of the melodies
and lyrics. We go back and forth until we get what we want and are
ready to record.
Dianna: Who are your inspirations as a band?
KATC: Pat Benatar,
Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Blondie. Classic
rock n roll girls!
Dianna: Is it tough having a girl in the band or being the
only girl in the band?
KATC: It can be tough because I'm pretty high maintenance and
It can be hard to look hot on tour in between all the driving, hotel
rooms and little sleep! It's also tough because for whatever reason, if
you're a girl in a band you're less likely to be taken seriously. I'd
like to think we can definitely rock just as hard as the guys if not
harder!
Dianna: The next question is just for my personal knowledge. I
noticed you guys are on twitter, how does that work exactly?
KATC: We just post updates every couple of days to let people
know what we're doing!
Dianna: Thanks again for taking the time out to talk to me.
Anything left to say to all of your fans?
KATC: Check out our
Myspace page www.myspace.com/kelseyandthechaos and pick up a copy of our new EP "Shut Up and Deal" on Tragic
Hero Records on July 28th in stores Nationwide!
