The seas they sail on may be shallow, but you shouldn’t expect that to sink this ship…

Post-Hardcore outfit Emery, are set to release their fourth studio album (In Shallow Seas We Sail) on June 9th on Tooth and Nail Records. The CD consists of several songs Emery fans have already heard and a good amount of new material for fans to get excited for.

The CD opens with "Cutthroat Collapse", this was already released online but for those of you who haven’t heard it; it can be described in two words: classic Emery. With high pitched and extremely low Growls going through the whole song along with epic music that can make any post-hardcore fan proud, not to mention Toby Morell’s incredibly catchy voice.

Unfortunately the CD has very few songs with catchy hooks that grabbed me, but "The Edge of the World" certainly helps out with that. Lyrically and musically they are one of the most mature bands of their genre. One highlight that has to be mentioned is the title track which grabs you from start to finish, and you’re happy to be grabbed in the end.

After listening to this CD several times I must say that Emery are not given enough credit. The music they produce is nothing but fun to listen to and scream or sing along with (Toby Morell has an amazing voice when he’s singing clean). This CD is overall a great CD, not the best I’ve heard by Emery, but it is consistently above par when it comes to most music that’s been popping up recently.
